One down…

The Volvo Penta IPS Med Trip had a successful inaugural session in Palma on Monday. Now it’s on to the next city!
It’s one stopover down and ten to go, as the Volvo Penta IPS Med Trip departs Palma for Barcelona today. The PTA80 crew and employees from the local dealer, Camber Marine, and Spain Marine Engines held the first two informational sessions of the trip on Monday, with around 35 attendants in total. These participants came from the governmental sector — the Coast Guard and Navy — as well as the Spanish ferry boat industry. “We were pleasantly surprised to see so many people there — this is the start of boating season, and these guys are pretty busy right now,” says Ulf Eliasson, who helped run the first session. “I think the level of interest indicates how attractive the Volvo Penta IPS solution is for commercial applications.”
Three test runs were taken, allowing participants to drive the PTA80 to see how she handled, as well as explore the engine room. “Seeing is believing,” Ulf says. “It’s great having the PTA80 here so that boat builders and operators can experience Volvo Penta IPS for themselves.”
The PTA80 departed Palma today and arrived in Barcelona this afternoon in time for three sessions at Marina Port Vell on May 7 and 8.
